some pics from today's class, as you can see, form in-forms content. process is where ideas and "accidents" happen to create meaning, allowing you to discover things you hadn't foreseen, and that's the beauty of it. The camera is an extension of the soul, the third eye—so to speak.
That is why I want you to create 3d models for next week's mid-term (physical objects, not renderings. Let's bring things to the corporeal) Remember: the space can be in-situ, meaning: on location, it does not need to be an enclosed space, the show can take place in a site-specific location, if so, position your works in this context and document it for presentation, you need to be able to defend your criteria for this choice. If you have any questions ask me.
In the case that your space is "site-specific" but your artwork is 3d, then bring your artwork in 3d. I expect all artwork to be executed. Note: We will continue to refine these as the class rolls on, leaving room for discovery, but next week is a benchmark and you will be graded on what you present.
We will leave the environmental graphics for week 8, once the language & text for the exhibit have been worked through more concisely. I do want to see logos. Name your exhibit and bring 10 logo studies to class alongside your model. Logos can be symbol + type or type only, you decide. Bring your text as well, as we will begin the catalog design in tandem with the identity or "branding" — to use a corporate term.
Have fun!
I am here if you need me
